The Owner
From New York and Hawai‘i,
a master’s craft in the home where he was born.
As a young man he crossed the ocean and opened his own sushi restaurant in New York. He later moved to Hawai‘i, where for many years he served authentic Japanese cuisine to guests there.
In his 41st year in America, as he considered the years of craft still ahead, the landscape of his hometown came to mind. “In the place where I grew up, I want to create a small restaurant where I can host the people I hold dear.” With that wish, he opened his doors in his family home — left much as it was, its original warmth intact.
It was only after his years abroad that he came to know the true, quiet comfort of Japan. That once-in-a-lifetime hospitality is what he offers, here, at a single counter.

Ours is a small restaurant run by the chef alone. To prepare each dish with care for every guest, we welcome visits by reservation only. As preparation takes time, we kindly ask that you reserve by phone by the day before. Private bookings and catering are also available.
